JSMUAANA was the first Alumni of APPNA that had taken the task of teaching BLS and ACLS to our Pakistani Physicians. This project was spearheaded by one of our own, Dr. Saeed Akhter, who is the Chairman of the department of Surgery and Transplant at Shifa Hospital in Islamabad. Dr. Nadeem Kazi, Dr. Javed Suleman and Dr. Moeen Fikri were the ones who travelled to Pakistan to organize Life support workshop and seminars. This was done in collaboration with a non-profit organization called Life Savers Foundation, which is headed by Dr. Saeed Akhter.

So far BLS, ACLS, BTLS and PALS has been taught to over 8000 people from Khyber to Karachi. JSMUAANA in collaboration with LSF has made these emergency resuscitation training programs so popular that now a lot of other organizations are on board. BLS and ACLS that was virtually unknown terminology in Pakistan has become a household name in medical community.

If anyone of you is interested in teaching these resuscitation techniques in Pakistan, contact the officers of JSMUAANA or Dr. Saeed Akhter at Shifa Hospital in Islamabad.
